Today’s tottenism tuesday inspired by Ron McKeefery.... This may sound like a really simple concept, but it is one of the most important things a coach (or anyone for that matter) should consider. I heard Ron McKeefery talk about this at one of the PLAE conferences I attended and the point really hit home for me. Once you have your WHY firmly established, everything else that follows just falls into place. It gives you a basis for the “what” and the “how” of what you are trying to accomplish. It gives you positive direction forward. It allows your athletes to buy into what you are doing for them as individuals and as a team. There are many great ideas out there about how to set up training protocols for a variety of situations. But they can’t all possibly fit into everyone’s situation or environment. Look deeply into what you are doing and if you can justify your actions with a sound WHY, then you will be on the road to success!
